Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking official said the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
